A romance poem...

    Anodyne

……………....By Sami Khalil

A romance poem………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

Those abiding questions abound

Whilst raged and constantly be

Whose hemmed immortals round

To fetch back their infinite glee.

Who ravished labours and reigns

Accurst in pride and haggard rites

Beholding selfish, disheveled gains

Palsied as it were in guilty plights.

But love needn’t a retort or reproof

Whose repose in comparison none forgo

And hearts yet manacled in blithe aloof

Perused to no starry end in sunset glow.

Whose unforeseen silence and succor lay

Edifying in truant swells a puissant way.

Soft and beautifully wrapped romance.
I like the olde English, reminds me of those period pieces.
The historical romances. Well done Sami.

Enjoyed your poem. You write so eloquently. I like the arrangement of words, and theme. Well written and expressed.

You certainly do like to use Archaic English, but it works for romantic poetry. I could see that sunset glow! Such an emotional love poem. Lovely. Of course, you know I admired the artwork too! Lydi**

This is very reminiscent of Romantic poetry or even Shakespeare, as Andrew said. Flowery language that evokes many images to wrap my head around, especially for a short poem. The sound and rhythm of it are lovely. Well done, Sami!

Nicely presented and romantic for the intellectual with a good message -- no room for selfishness and gold diggers.

Another powerful delivery sami, for those who believe and those who are more casual on love. great wording and imagery, the presentation of voice on reading was like a modern shakespeare taking the stage. As always Sami you aim to impress, well done poet.

very romantic...and at the same time a poke at those who remain aloof to others...who feel others are unworthy of their love...
those who want riches and are high maintenance ....real love is just straightforward passion...and no selfishness abides in real love.

nicely done.
