Places..Of The Heart/By Sami Khalil

A sad romance poem.

There lie...Places of the heart

Where orphaned words live domestic lives.

Neither fine fettles nor sacred texts dwell, except in postponed tomorrows.

Chaotic, perhaps, but the fleeting scenes

Are skillfully scripted among desultory

 apprehensions and frailty of echoes.

Intact, perhaps, but enough miswords can carry lovers’ diction down

The road of doltish broken heartedness, providing their own translations.

There lie…places of the heart

Where critics puzzle over the avant-garde of our blueness separations

 and recognitions of cherished memories.

Where strangers sleep through introductions and amble down the river banks of silence.

There, “being” is a mere concept exploring the voiced firsts of exhibits and undulations of images.

There lie…My heart and my fugitive soul

Waiting for you…My love!

I cannot find it in my heart to accept this as sad. For me, it is a sublime understanding that the heart is more than just a physical organ; it is the repository of all our subconscious instincts, thoughts and memories, and therein lies the wonder and the puzzle of our existence.

There lie…places of the heart
Where critics puzzle over the avant-garde of our blueness separations
and recognitions of cherished memories.

Those are my favourite lines in what is a quite beautifully wrought poem.

Beccy.

the first stanza is mystifying within interesting imagery, like "postponed tomorrows" is a clever way of saying never
and
"fleeting scenes
Are skillfully scripted among desultory
apprehensions and frailty of echoes." to me means forgotten memories/lost events are shown within unprepared moments. that line is good.

i also like the second stanza! its amazing.

When we wait for love. Love can feel like a fugitive. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

A beautiful write, Sami.

It is just amazing how so much sorrow flows from Love; something that is supposed to take us beyond our limits of happiness.
Wonderful choice of words as usual, with a powerful and sensual flow of thoughts.
Frida Kahlo.......great artist...fiery woman. Lovely picture once again.

waiting for something real, among all of the misspoken words...among the apprehensions...and places where strangers ignore our hearts...there must be a love out there, a place to pick up the pieces...become whole again.

Oh my gosh, how I always enjoy a new poem of yours. It's amazingly articulate; it flows superbly and naturally, as if you are having a conversation with the reader; and yes, it's romantic with a wistful note of longing, especially the ending. I'm privileged to read this.

Painting of the lady: Frieda Kahlo...one of the most celebrated Mexican poets and a powerful artist, too...

This reads to me like a salmon fighting the upstream current and flows, knowingly knows the
danger along the away but still continue on the journey, for at the end of it all is what he seeks 'Love'

You write slow Mr. Khalil, but it's definitely worth the wait eveytime. Very cool .Thanks EG

PS. The portrait scares me a bit, not a lot just a little.
