Shadow Things/By Sami Khalil

I live in the shadows of life and death…A mystery and suspense Autumn poem…

The Poem:

He inhaled autumn upon gaily trespassing of golden celebrations, awakening urban legends.

To the winds, emboldened by misty silences, burbled the fallen round placed edges and ears.

Maddening were the shadows in slow motions, carting weathered bricks of spying moods.

Notable we darken the eyes, as past legends has inscribed all in the book of the rising fog rolls.

He came to live in the vestiges of scarlet biographies, extending the mysteries of godly anticipations.

Those standing silhouettes, slumbered apart crestfallen souls, flaming true forms; the apocalypses of mortal lethargy.

A formless matter he was, in the cages of captive suns, bonding the chains of free words.

Never he found growth, except in death or rebirth of raving souls,

for positive were the credits when their peace shivered

And negative were the quotes of dreamy killers, who left behind the shadows I am!

You have come a long way of genesis… to the unfiltered judgment.

"to the unfiltered judgment"

i really like that...there is a really haunting quality to this...encompasses all we love about autumn...the turning, halloween with all the restless spirits roaming the earth...

the raving souls...so dark so Poe-like...the dreamy killers die a thousand deaths as the leaves fall.

mystically mournful and mysterious...

This is wicked in execution, tragic upon ingestion, and unfiltered when injected... Another masterfully penned work...

(Those standing silhouettes, slumbered apart crestfallen souls, flaming true forms; the apocalypses of mortal lethargy.) Here, here! I like these lines and agree with Jacob this write has definite Poe-like qualities.( A formless matter he was, in the cages of captive suns, bonding the chains of free words.) Excuse me while I check to make sure my doors are all locked! I enjoyed this one my friend. ~Sharon

Mysterious autumn is always interesting to write about because the writer has so many avenues in which to engage the muse. I enjoy how this piece moved from the gaiety of colorful celebrations to the 'unfiltered judgement' which every autumn has to face as death stands waiting in the shadows.

I had to read this more than once. There is a strong sense of obscurity and mystery, indeed, and the autumn is the perfect season to hide it. I figured you were talking about either God, or death? Either way. It was a pleasure reading it, as always. Thank you dear friend.
