The Real View/…………………………………………..By Sami Khalil

The view within is the real view.  A psychological poem.

The Poem:

You only see the ripples above waters as self-expression,

but not the merciless anarchy within.

You witness candles burning in the dark,

but not the residue of scar-tissues melting away.

You only observe weary eyes crying sadly in basted memories,

but not their wounds growing like fingernails.

You only glance at craggy mountains rising to drape the sky,

but not the stalled echoes within valleys.

You only stare at pallid grave sites at the edge of humanity starving for answers,

but not the dead and what have become.

You only spot a blind among the anointed blind... others hanging in the balance,

but not the one who dares to look at the sun.

You only notice beginnings and endings.

If you can only see…

The real view!

This reminds me of those "blinders" that they put on the horses to keep them from getting "spooked".. they can see the road ahead of them well enough but miss out on everything around them.. I think too many people "see" like this.. They are too focused on the road ahead to fix the road behind them and enjoy the road they are on, and the road ahead just stays in the distance.

Sometimes it is easier to just look on the surface instead of taking a deeper look. You are afraid of what you might find.. When you go deeper the pain becomes more real, the monsters more scary, the hurt more profound. When you look inside others to see who they really are you might not like what you see.

I think that is what is wrong with most of the world today. It is easier to just take things at face value instead of understanding things for what they really are. Seeing the person for who they really are instead of just what they WANT you to see.

The anger can disappear once you realize that it is due to a hurt that you can heal... The sadness can go away once you tend to the wound and heal the scar. The friend who is lonely can have that shoulder they so desperately need to lean on but too afraid to ask.

If we take a good hard look at those memories and past mistakes we can learn the lessons that are there waiting and keep from repeating them over and over. We must see the consequences that our actions have on others, how it affects their lives, their happiness, their well-being.

The real view is actually taking the time to LOOK: not skim the surface, not glance at, not take at face value, not gloss it over--but DEEP down inside and reflect.

I REALLY LOVE this piece Sami!!! It is my new favorite of yours....

Sometimes we are contented to only look on the surface of everything. If only we exert effort to look deeper than what is immediately apparent, we may perhaps gain more insights and wisdom. wonderfully penned as always.

Brilliant! Always the straight lines and black and white seen - never the shades in-between, ultimately we fail ourselves in that process, great write love x

This is amazing! Yes, we tend to look at what we see in front of us instead of what we should have really seen. And yes, sometimes we forget to look for the essential things in life, as well as neglect the other aspects of ourselves and/or of the others.

Your poem had so much to say, so much meaning. I loved it. Great work!

This is an eye-opener. I'd have to say that out of all of your poems, none have hit home like this one because the message you were trying to convey came across ever so clear. I commend you dear friend. 100/100

For the brief moment, you make me want to stop and have a good hard look at my life. I am forced to step away from the furs of blissful ignorance that I wear, to face the truth-how wilfully blind I am, we all are. We treat the symptom and not the cause and take solace in the idea that we have done all we can for betterment "ripples above the water.."

Thank you for reminding me that I need to do more, that I need to be better. You are a gifted writer. Well done!

Excellent write and something really drags you to the basics and the truth, at times unless and until you go through the similar path it is hard to get the full impact of the real views which is a real fact, we are living in the world of puzzle, we talk, act, think in a certain way so pri and well calculated response is obtained as if in a game, so concept about real view may be in writers mind or in certain novels or movies, any how very thought provoking write, may be another butterfly effect may be obtained by this write, congrats

The world sees only what it wants to see...and turn a blind eye to every thing else...No one wants to go that deep and see what's inside...We can see if we really want to..but a few extra steps need to be taken..If only we could make a change..the world will be a better place to live in...Great poem Sami..!

i like how this delves just so far...we see the bad, but don't want to know the guts of it...just the surface--the beginnings, the endings...but not the deepest pain.
try to buffer the real truth, with just surface truth...

your wording is always so well put together...your phrasing unique.
