Ashen...By Sami Khalil

Healing the bruising...

The Poem:

I planted you,

In the legacy of bruised skies,

In the further callings of noted flowers as colors escape orphanages

And yield to the roots of spring conscience.

I planted you,

Naked with bed full apologies,

Of ceaseless moons with pity on prisoners, who survive daily devotions, wearing the shadows of absence.

I planted you,

In the rebirth of wilted petals,

Who survive in distant valleys, attached to indecision of the hearts,

Footsteps away from light in the broad fields of death.

I planted you,

In my intimate words of wedded vocabulary,

Around soft edges of intuitions where our critics below are confused,

Spinning in a state of head spin.

I planted you,

In the misreading of ashen rituals,

As white temples, churches and mosques stand as living archives to almost divinity, in unison of a lost sermon.

They say that you will reap what you sow. When we plant love, should we expect to harvest love, too? True love is unconditional- it is divine. To love means to sacrifice. Sometimes, it's enough to dream and dream about love...because in dreams, everything could be possible.
I'm sorry I didn't make an interpretation here, but a reaction. LOL.

Thanks to this wonderful piece, Sami. I enjoyed reading it.

I think if you plant us amidst all these images we would have lots of work to do to change them, make them better. Don't mean your poem but the issues you raise Maybe this is divine love, but it would take a labor of love to accomplish this..

Red here rolling up shirt sleeves, reporting for duty Sami

Favorite line: who survive in distant valleys attached to indecision of the heart. And in unison of a lost sermon

It is about two bruised hearts and how he planted sorrow and pain in her but then came to realizations that love is a labor and sacrifice and a lost sermon.
