Perched

Perched

Perched/……………..BY Sami Khalil

Perched to fly off into the unknown…A romance poem.

The Poem:

The wind stops its whips

The rain halts its drips

The candle burns its tips

The ocean idles its ships

Death tightens its grips

Luck plays its many chips

The joker shares his quips

A lady shows off her hips

The traveler longs for trips

A trace is found on blips

My name perches sadly

on your lethargic lips!

I liked the way this poem built to its conclusion. It inspired me to write this tiny gift poem for you which you may keep as your own:

Lips

These things I’ve found
here and around:
Rains soak the ground.
Winds blow and pound.
Scents jolt the hound.
Lush, pink, and round,
your lips confound.
