A Petticoat Diary

A Petticoat  ( female ) Diary/..........By Sami Khalil
(She lived in hope , died in despair)
Her desire to be loved and to love for there were no suitors for marriage.
Based on a true story when I was growing up
)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

On those days...
She dances like wild flowers
fluted by dulcet tones
gazing in sweet sorrow
upon utter solaces.
She, who passed star-lights
became a shadow of under-toned shimmers
wandering through life's wild affections
where heavy sighs became her measured void
looking for bucolic warm glows silhouetted
in sweet sensations.

On those nights...
She cradles dreams in tender desires
in a veil of bashful smiles
where the indelible ink is saved
for someone special...for keeps.
Still, she deserves a golden ring
and a clandestine house with stepping
stones to paradise of petaled gardens
where love is tickled to death for eternity.

On those months...
She survives in timeless beauty
brush-stroking the outlines of
her erasable heart, looking for
hands to recreate her rapture d joy
living on just because; of fantasies
on rainy afternoons with no parasols
losing herself in the chill of winters.

On those years...
Constellations glow brightly
and dim softly in sashays of dusted
apparitions when she dances her
last dance!

On those diaries...

"A Petticoat Diary"
Sami Khalil,
I see from your note that the inspiration for this poem emanates from story you remember from your younger days. That in itself is a big deal to me!
I wondered if this individual was prevented the opportunity of finding a prospective spouse because her parents did not have the financial means for a dowry. Was this a pre-arranged marriage which fell through?
I have a friend who moved here with some of hersiblings and is an adult and is still unmorried. She wants to be so very badly. This story is so like her situation in every way. My friend's name is Jasmina.
Anyway Bless you Sami. I always anticipate your deep and introspective treasure hunt poetry.

Wanting makes us feel alive. Heightens the ache, so to speak. Makes us more receptacle. Having gone through that and yet never feeling for filled is what you speak of here I believe. It's being so awake, you can't sleep or so hungry you want to devour anything. Perhaps she felt more than they and they knew it and didn't have enough of themselves to offer. Anyway...your portrait leaves me to wonder whys and many more things. Excellent artistry, dear poet.

This is simply beautiful, recalling a sense of longing and perhaps missed opportunities that some people have. Here's hoping that some dreams still come true :-)

She cradles dreams in tender desires. This too reminds me of someone I knew growing up, a close relative, always dreaming , wishing, wanting, but never having. Kathie

Wanting is far sweeter and much longer-lived than having. Physical closeness to a beloved person or object all-too-often causes the magic to eventually lose glitter and fade away.
This poem is an incredibly lovely creation, Sami--apparently, just another day at the office, for you.

Brilliant as always, I don't know what made me pick that one. But it was so true to life..Feelings we capture as we grow.

Great write, excellent expressions, it is sad, only plus I can see even if it is negligible she did not go through the nonsense of harsh relationships and it is a possibility when we make vows, other than that it is extremely sad, I remember a sweet person when I was a kid wanted to find partner, did not happen, now when I see this poem I just related to her, and she was so sweet too

Wow sami I just saw this one.It is so sad when you wait and wait for your life to begin and it never really does.We want people to like us, love us, want us and if that does'nt happen our heart is broken. This is so sad:(

These words I am about to say are true and I bare witness that the Spirit moves through this vessel of a poem/story.
I can bare witness because I did breathe in it's breath. Oh how sweet it be and It's peace and love now reside in me.
I don't completely understand it, but somehow this Author has observed and recorded the spirit in action and somehow it is still alive as it moves through the Heart in us.
Something I see and feel here also, Is that this woman seemingly would be suffering a sorrow of lack of love Yet, I see that is only the illusion. This woman did share a deep Love and she recorded her secret love in her diary etched in her heart and mind. She did experience all she wanted through her constant hopes and dreams. Her dreams might of been so much better then if she would of married someone who could or would not love her as she dreamed.

Why do dreams exists and hopes and desires? They are meant to be savored and enjoyed with heart and thought..then so it be....... She had all she dreamed... Thoughts are every thing.
This is also why when we have everything we dream of,we are still not happy.. because we lost the things to dream for.
We dream of things that make us happy but, it's not the things that make us happy
Therefore it the dream that makes us happy.
"Sometimes our dreams are better left unanswered.'
