HOMELAND/By Sami Khalil
( A celebration of America's day, its ideals and the natural wonders )
)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

This is the land!
Your pledge of allegiance
Your exile... forsaken
Your fertile imagination
Your stripes and colors
You blood flows through
Hopes and dreams proffered

This is the land!
that loamed your cinch
with golden moments
with outre' dreams
with madrigal realities
with brave's therondies
where its timeless freedoms
breathe the air of knowing
that all men are created equal
even the festooned distaffs too
with merited causes of liberty
that knows neither sopors nor slumber
and justice is blessed with blindness.

This is the day!
For the miens of unsung heroes
For the visages of mantic moons.
For the outward manifestation
For the inner divine essence.

This is my homeland!
A lucid diamond in scented bowers.
You fire the mind of a poet and captivate
the heart of a wanderer, and in your love
I shall find life's fulfillment, and in your
school of nature, I shall learn the art of
living truth but in your sorrow, I shall
lament with the widowed for in our gilded
peaks we lost the summit to the wrath
of man reaping his fruits which courses
now in our bodies, minds and souls.

This is the New World!
These are my gnarled hands...

(This review, of course, applies to those words I actually understood. The poet's flowery vocabulary often exceeds my level of expertise--even when I use a dictionary attempting to decode phrases. Obviously, my failing.)
Soaring ode to a wounded giant; extolling the inspired principles upon which the United States was founded.
Raises up its basically good, hard-working people.
Truly heartwarming, Sami!
Thank you.

This is it! Another excellent piece from the one and only Sami.

Everything is perfect- the image, the concept, the choice of words, the literary device (alliteration), and though this is a free verse, it has a an amazing rhythm (I told you before I really like free verse).

I love the 4th stanza where you mentioned how your homeland fire the mind of a poet, how you learn art and how you lament in it's sorrow.

So inspiring and commendable. Everyone should love his homeland...
Excellent piece!

wow.... I really liked the image you used along with it ... if thats also your work then I must say you are freaking good at art :P
on the contrary if its not your's then I must thank you for using such a beautiful image to compliment your write up ..

Now the real part of write up .... its material of some substantially good vocab.
I could feel some disconsolateness within a budding newness...

Like always you leave me impressed with your work :)
Thanks for the share :)

Wonderfully written Sami. You took me in; I felt your words. I love when someone can make words into a substance for others to feel. I felt a sadness within a blooming of newness. I love it.

Your words are as colourful as the painting (which is glorious), you use your thoughts to display the negatives as well as positives, finding truth and awareness of how your vast country is. Great writing and proud.

This is an impressive poem written by a very erudite person. The sentiments leap out at the reader and ring true. These words gently acknowledge too the frailties of this homeland and its peoples. I admire the writer's ability to embrace the high spirit of the homeland and temper that spirit with the knowledge of its baser urges and failings. But I gotta ask: what does this phrase mean? "that loamed your cinch" -- it threw me for a loop and I had to research the words, thinking that were usages I was unaware of -- and though I could not find that usage in old Merriam-Webster, there obviously is an alternate usage. Please let me know. This is a poem whose cadence is almost like an anthem. Bravo.
