To My Winter

To My Winter

A Poem by Samiha S.
"

It was supposed to be a "me time" poem where I was being observant about the surroundings around me. However, as time passes, an unknown emptiness fills me from which I can't run away.

"

The air was filled with truths

Echoing the soft melody of tales

That we never heard.

It was the wintertime once again.

Leaves rusted with dark

Beneath the barren trees

Remained lay down

As it always did.

There was so much going on in the morning

As before, the night was there to

Calm it down.

We’d be seated close to the hearth

Warming our hands

Up to the rarest shade of pink

That we liked.

But it would never be the same.

That day, when your voice held the words

Stay here until I return,

I waited.

Without realizing it, we said goodbye.

Winter would come back

Like it did every time

Here, my wait turned into a day

That never faded into the night.
