Sonnet 1

Sonnet 1

A Poem by Samantha Lynn
"

Anyone have a good title for this one also? Not very good at that part

"

Mustard was the craze for me at age two

I learned the gift of reading at age three

“When you turn eighteen, you will then be free”

My dad would say to me, his voice so blue.

I’d give him a hug and we stand there in cue.

All my worries would go away and we

Would spend our days together, happily.

Hide ‘N’ seek; he would give me those small clues.

The days would go by in seconds; I grew

Of course I made mistakes along the way.

Time flew by and our relationship grew

Apart. Now he’s that stranger across the room.

But to see that smile upon his face

I knew, he knew, I was in the right place.

Hi, Samantha, a beautifully written, sad sonnet. So much said in so few words. Great job!

Just in the 5th line, I believe "we" should be "we'd".

Very beautiful sonnet. I feel your conflict, sadness, and hope so beautifully woven together.
Great job, in my opinion.
