False Beauty

False Beauty

A Poem by Samantha Lynn
"

I haven't thought of a title yet, help with that??

"

If the sky is an impalpable blue,

then you are the exertions of that sky, what it will take

to be unnoticed from the world as you sneak

in the everyday. You’re that existence of peace.

Yet, if I needed you here, I wouldn’t give you a ring.

There’s a hole in your wall of splendor. It’s the truth in your eye.

Both our lives will go on, but I

am the only one to see past the blue

hue, into the reality you hide. Pease, don’t ring

me. I will be blinded by your outside beauty, forgetting how you take

from me the idea of reality, the piece

of the mind I need to live without you. Just continue to sneak.

I just need you to continue to sneak

past the world without me, because I

am a cloudy mess that covers the atmosphere, every piece

of it gone. I am an opaque, obscure grey instead of the blue

that you are. My nature disappears with time. Time will take

me away because me and my clouds are not true. In the ring

of time, one of us will evaporate. In this ring

of vivacity, I would never compete. The sneak

battle would be more like an elaborate take

on who will last longer with the time that we are given. I

would rather disappear first, than risk the idea of your outside blue

taking away the idea I have of temporary existence. That piece

of thought  have of disappearing blissfully from this existence is a piece

of my morals I intend to keep. I am not your ring

leader and I don’t want your blue

dying into my white spots. I don’t want your sneak

beauty bringing out the textures of my true self. I

am not a textile. I secretly like the mess. My life is not a take

on the connotation of being inoperative. Take

it away. Get the hues away from me, every piece

of it all. I don’t need the textures of my life brought out. I

am different as you are bound to one way of life, while I ring

my own circle of life, one that doesn’t cause me to sneak

behind beautiful shades of perpetual blue.

If you were a color, you’d be a shade of blue,

like the color of the sky, that allows you to sneak

behind false beauty and I don’t want to live in that ring.

Many titles in the poem. You went in many direction. Need to pick a strong point. "The color of the sky" or "If the sky is an impalpable blue,". I liked the poem. Open the door to questions and took the reader to places and thoughts. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

Castle in the Sky? Something like that. I'm getting the feeling of being up in the clouds, remembering that time when I looked out a plane window and saw nothing BUT blue and clouds.
