Words.

Words.

A Poem by Samantha Lynn

“I’m Fine.”

These words seem so tedious to me.

There are just words. Right?

So, why is it,

that there are so many variations,

so many different definitions,

so many different ways to say these two words?

How did these two words turn to something so much bigger than words?

They are just words!

I never understood how words could be used in ways to show emotion.

They are just marks on a piece of paper,

sounds made through the vocal cords.

They means nothing,

Yet they can be used to convey the deepest of problems.

And just the slightest wrong word can destroy a life forever.

“’I’m sorry,’ the girl said to the nothingness around her as she held many pills in her hand.”

“’I love you,” said the man to his true love as she felt herself tear up with happiness to his previous question.”

“Goodbye.”

Words convey so much emotion.

And I could never understand why that could be until now.

Very true, our words and what we say is a very powerful thing. Not many people realize how much their words can hurt or help someone. Very good job!
