This is Where the Title should be…

This is Where the Title should be…

A Poem by Samantha Lynn

This is Where the Title should be…

This is where the opening line

pulls you in.

This is where you read and feel that you just have to read more to find out the ending,

like you have no choice in the matter.

This is where the writer says something,

something minuscule,

but huge

in the matter of life itself.

It makes you question something.

Anything.

You start to question things:

Do you really love him?

Are you a disappointment compared to everyone else in your life?

Is it too late to fix something that is long beyond broken?

Can you really make such a difference in the world?

Why did he/she have to leave?

Will you ever amount to anything?

This is the part

when the writer tells you something.

They take something they have said

then magnify the meaning.

Your head should be spinning now,

but there is that small part

that knows the writer

is right.

No matter the ending result of such,

you just need to accept it.

Accept that this writer just might have a point with this.

Or not.

They could be wrong.

It is up to you to decide.

Only you.

This is the part where two words never have left you so speechless, yet disappointed that it is over.

The end.

You know, I do get what you're trying to do here, but I think it's just a tad too self-referential and 'meta' for my tastes. It feels a bit like a cop-out, to be honest - instead of writing a really great poem, you describe what the poem would do if there actually was one.
