The Whale and the Broken Net.

The Whale and the Broken Net.

A Poem by Samantha Lynn
"

Ok, I wrote this as a way to tell someone how I am feeling and to say goodbye. I am giving it to them tomorrow also so please tell me what You think. :) Thank you for reading!

"

His voice sounds like he is in pain.

there is something that I cannot explain,

That draws me to him.

I think it was your love acting as a net.

It would catch me when I fell

I felt safer knowing you were always there to make me smile

To catch me when I fell

But the thing about nets is that they cannot hold back whales.

They are easily broken through.

And I am just a fisherman with only a line and hook

Trying to pull you back to me and my shattered net.

But I know that won’t bring you back to me

Because how can a fisherman catch a whale with a broken net?

The only thing I can do now is throw my net away

Unless the whale decides to float back

But I cannot expect as much.

I cannot get too attached to something drifting to sea

I need to let go

So, as the silhouette fades from black to the color of the sea green water

I wave goodbye.

I don’t think that I can forgive you,

But I am sorry I tried.

This was an original comparison to heart break, I've never heard it described before as a whale and a broken net. This made it interesting to read and kept my attention!
