HomesickA Poem by S.R.M.A poem for my best friend“Homesick” 6-29-2015
I see your face in his, there’s no real resemblance Just a similarity in the place he is filling The one that belonged to you, or so I thought I’m not quite sure anymore, Whether I still love you, but I do know That when I look into his green eyes I think of your deep brown ones When I feel his smooth cheek against mine I remember the feel of your rough stubble Across my cheek, my stomach, my thighs When I hear him speak, nothing of importance Just meaningless chatter, I wish it was you Your excited voice, telling me what happened today At the lumber yard, on your way to class You always have a story, or ten And you never fail to amuse I reach for my phone, think about calling him My fingers find your number And you always answer I’m home
