"Summer" 5-14-2014

Springtime cannot last forever

As nothing is eternal.

The heat and passion of summer’s stir

Must overtake the season vernal.

The insects drift and the aster bloom,

Nature content with its respite.

The humans, however, start to zoom

Through those summer days, so full and bright..

The season’s novelty and excitement

Seem as if they will never end.

But soon they wonder where it went,

Regret, too often is the trend.

From this perspective time seems meaningless and fleeting,

For as summer turns to fall, soon the birds will cease to sing.

I love your series of seasonal sonnets! This one is my favorite. I really like the line-the heat and passion of suumer's stir.
