Life
A Poem by Sameer Ali
Life
8th grade it was, when we first met I talked of sports, you talked of pets that coming of age and feeling alive you gave me the time of my life It took some time to know it for sure all that was mine, turned into yours I fell in love, even with our fights you gave me the time of my life
I found a job to afford your hand it was your parent's only demand mine approved when they realized you gave me the time of my life
You were on the stage, dressed up in red that color on you left me out of breaths we gave our acceptance as husband and wife you gave me the time of my life
Waiting for words on a hospital bench waiting to hear the doctor's comment and hearing that new born baby's cry you gave me the time of my life
The kids, they grew as years kept adding the schools, the college, the jobs and weddings and all of the time, had you by my side you gave me the time of my life
In whispers you said "old age is no jest" we promised each other of giving our best your company made it easy to strive you gave me the time of my life
Then came a day when they dug your grave and just as I promised, I acted all brave no matter how longer I can survive you will stay the time of my life
8th grade it was, when we first met...

Marvellous. To be honest, never read a poem more practical than this. And the last paragraph... that's breathtaking.
