Clementine Sky

Clementine Sky

A Poem by Sameeksha Vadisherla

I stand by the lake,
underneath the clementine sky.
heaven smiles on me from the above,
as I wait for you with a glimmer of optimism.
My darling, I need you to be here.

It's our place,
and I am standing there now,
yet it feels lifeless without you.
I can wait till clementine fades into amber.
Neither of us knew that you'd be vanished by December.

Take me to the elysian fields with you,
take me to the land of silver apples.
Show me the vivid colors of the sky,
cause since now, I've only known clementine.
Take me with you; I can no more define.

You see me waiting, as you float across the clouds.
Despite how quiet I appear, my voices are loud from sorrow.
I should've been the one to leave soon,
my body is cold to the bone,
and it's hard for me to spend the rest all alone.

No words to express my delight and appreciation of this poem, dear Sameeksha. As if a dirge from a bygone age. The poet mourns the premature parting from a loved one, a sudden departure and is distraught at being left alone. It's a figurative death and one that you did full justice to. One wants to join a loved one in their unknown realm and that wish is expressed in fullness here in the penultimate verse, which would be my favorite. Very creative, very original and certainly a masterpiece. Kudos my friend. 👏

Sad and sweet, lovingly written, goes to the heart :)
... a constructive thought: Is it "be" or "by" December?

An unexpected departure of a treasured one and the color of the 'paused' sky (ever since then) are speaking with each other. 'Clementine sky' holds a lot and it can be understood from each word of yours. Incomplete goodbye, uncared sentiment and waiting are woven beautifully in this poignant write!

I hope you understand my gently considered comment of 'beautifully sad' - because in spite of the tragedy of your friend's going, you have expressed your feeling in such sensitive way. Could feel your pain start to finish; and understand how if not what you feel, Sameeksha

'Take me to the elysian fields with you,
take me to the land of silver apples.
Show me the vivid colors of the sky,
cause since now, I've only known clementine.
Take me with you; I can no more define.'

All the best to you my dear friend!
A very sad piece...longing for your love nearby with you at the lake under a clementine sky...you feel a void without her...looking back on moment in time, she vanishes by December when the Clementine sky is no more....your images show us the loss you feel...very well done!

Dear poet. Your poetry was so good. I had to read again.
"Show me the vivid colors of the sky,
cause since now, I've only known clementine.
Take me with you; I can no more define."
The above lines. They were my favorite. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

The way you expressed grief here,
I saw it right before my eyes,
words that painted such a beautiful picture,
This captures the pain of loss and the desire for reunion in a poignant and emotional way.
Touched my soul deeply,
BEAUTIFULLY written...
