Safety, is something that is surreal. You can try your best to wear the right attire, you can not walk down alley ways at midnight, and hide at the first indication of danger but nowadays safety is dead. We are like ticking clocks that will stop ticking when our unlucky time is presented to us. You never know when someone is going to pull you off of the streets of your own neighborhood with a crime rate that is virtually nonexistent. You have to worry about high schools and colleges being shot up. Your family, friends, and lovers can all be perceived as a possible threat. A walk through the woods means some sicko is ready to violate you and the one person you’re with and take your lives. You also have to worry about how you are making yourself unsafe coping with all of this. You have to worry about when the cigarettes that are one day going to reveal an abnormal growth of cells in your body. You could drink all of these thoughts away but end up choking on your own vomit in your sleep, and going out like Hendrix. Asphyxiated, by nothing but a little bit of a fun night. It’s all a game of chance. We are all waiting for that one random magic eight ball moment. It can happen at any time and any place. These are thoughts that glue me to my bed for most of my days but, even here I’m unsafe.
