this piece of poetry is about the bitter truth , which is ironically the lies we tell ourselves.

lies we tell ourself are not just thoughts of denial
lies we tell ourself take out brain into a spiral
we tell these lies to make us happy
to unburden all the emotions we carry
these lies are just a place to escape
a way to look past all the hate
sometimes we just want to leave it to fate
but with all the lies we've told , perhaps it's too late
we lie about the smallest things
just for the reassurance it brings
we may overlook it , and find it humourous
but the number of lies are simply numerous
we tell these lies for the pain to numb
to fake a smile in the days to come
are these lies? or is it now our part?
when will we ever listen to our heart?
to lie to ourself , we need to be smart
it is hard , some call it an art
but are the lies worth the crazy drive ?
when at the end , the truth will eat us alive
