Twisted Wings

Twisted Wings

A Poem by Samael

Twisted wings, like rose thorns-
Intertwining around my chest-
Tightening my blood with anger

Broken wings, wicked with desire-
Reaching for clenched fists-
And eyes that burn with fire-

Gnarled wings, poisoned with hate-
Embracing a cold body-
And a burning heart-

I am reborn a structure one cannot contain
And the blood of God's people will stain this Earth,
Mercy, have Mercy
On the souls I dare to face

I'm so sorry for asking things that relate to Satan but your words make me think it means more than what is written. is this Satan saying how twisted he is and how much his hatred is than he goes on and say that angles will fall and to have mercy on the people he meets?

You are welcome Samael.
Well done Samael. You wrote a good poem that may or may not reflect the embodiment of Satan. I too am fascinated by the history of religion ... after all, it is populated by the most intriguing people who ever lived.
Satan or Lucifer has few actual mentions in the Old Testament. Much of the legend was created by John Milton in Paradise Lost ... a powerful epic poem that describes his version of those biblical events ... leave it to a poet to gather hints together to produce a tale that has had great impact on literature.
The story of the Fall is one of the great depictions of Pride and Arrogance. Imagine an Archangel falling from Heaven ... the fall is not finished, nor will it be as long as God the Creator allows Lucifer's existence to continue.
I certainly understand your fascination with the topic which by the way does not make you a Satanist ...
you may be, but just studying the story and searching for answers does not make you one.

Keep writing ... I'll keep reading.

I too am Christian and there's no harm in knowing the enemy.
This is such a deep poem, but it's amazing how you wrote this and so many people can relate to this so really spectacular job. I think you should write more poems like this and see how many more people can relate to this.

the wings, broken, warped...no longer allow the angel to fly...now it just falls to and through the earth to what is below.
what once is good turns bad...so many reasons this may happen...but it's life.
and i like this...talks about some kind of redemption in life...
there is allegory here as well...not just angels but what they represent in this poem.

Thank you very much :)
This is a strongly worded poem in its own right & it doesn't need to be associated with Lucifer. We have plenty of evil in this world to be described with such intensity as you convey here. I'm in favor of being less controlling about what a poet's poems mean & just letting the reader have an experience & then tell you about it in a review. When we set ourselves up as a certain kind of writer, then we limit how people respond to our writing. I like how you use dynamic verbs & imagery to create a swirling cauldron of evil (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Satan is the deceiver in life. The antithesis to everything God is and stands for. While this poem is an interesting read, it does not come close to touching upon the pure evil that Satan is. As God is the ultimate good in life, Satan in the ultimate evil. If you've never done so, it would be good for you to find out more about Jesus Christ and why you need Him in your life. Satan seeks to deceive you, me, and everyone else and to lead us to a place called Hell.

But maybe that wasn't your intention. I'm not really sure what your intention is. But make no mistake, Satan is a liar and the father of lies. When he lies, he speaks his own language. He cannot be good because there is no goodness in him. He is evil incarnate.
