Stunning sunrise

Stunning sunrise

A Poem by Sally Edwards
"

I was inspired by one of Phil Sanders beautiful sunrise photos to write this poem. He has kindly let me use the photo with my poem. Thank you Phil.

"

It's a new day
finally on it's way
The sky is dark and brooding
with little shafts of light so soothing
Here comes a tiny peek
at the sunrise so meek

As dawn slowly unfolds
it no longer feels cold
Shimmering ribbons of gold
so beautiful and bold
Slivers of sunlight
banish another night

The golden orb is now up high
so beautiful it makes you sigh
Sky filled with hues of fiery red
so glorious,  you can't stay in bed
Absorb it all and wonder the beauty
as the world goes about it's daily duty

See the path of the reflection
going in the boat's direction
A path right through the boat
looking like a well worn coat
What beauty before our eyes
watching the stunning sunrise

Another excellent ode to Nature!
The sense of wonder (and almost veneration) is very well translated to the reader. Your poem also reinitiates us to the ceremonial of sunrise in a very subtle way. Yes, it is a new day, a new birth and a new hope for active persons to forge their life and destiny!
Thank you so much for giving us such beautiful images!

Wow, I loved the words, but also the pace of it. The rhyme was great and kind of pulled me along. You should be proud of this piece. Rain..

I can feel your inspiration. This is one of the baet poems i have read here. I was momentarily speechless. Your imagery was perfect, relatable in everyway. When i read this poem i felt like the sun was rising right before my very eyes. and indeed it was stunning. I loved every phrase so keep it up. You are a brilliant writer. Looking forward to reading more from you soon.

I like it. I love the imagery in here, really makes you look at the sun and say, "wow". It allows those who've never looked at the sun in this manor to stop and think a minute about how beautiful it really is. A very good write, thanks for the read request, I apologize for taking so long to get to it.

such wonderful imagery! I especially like the verse "as dawn slowly unfolds, it no longer seems cold etc" I think that this stanza sums the work up quite nicely... I also love your word choice in your rhymes and your ending is priceless.. good work!
