Stunning sunrise

Stunning sunrise

A Poem by Sally Edwards
"

I was inspired by one of Phil Sanders beautiful sunrise photos to write this poem. He has kindly let me use the photo with my poem. Thank you Phil.

"

It's a new day
finally on it's way
The sky is dark and brooding
with little shafts of light so soothing
Here comes a tiny peek
at the sunrise so meek

As dawn slowly unfolds
it no longer feels cold
Shimmering ribbons of gold
so beautiful and bold
Slivers of sunlight
banish another night

The golden orb is now up high
so beautiful it makes you sigh
Sky filled with hues of fiery red
so glorious,  you can't stay in bed
Absorb it all and wonder the beauty
as the world goes about it's daily duty

See the path of the reflection
going in the boat's direction
A path right through the boat
looking like a well worn coat
What beauty before our eyes
watching the stunning sunrise

Another excellent ode to Nature!
The sense of wonder (and almost veneration) is very well translated to the reader. Your poem also reinitiates us to the ceremonial of sunrise in a very subtle way. Yes, it is a new day, a new birth and a new hope for active persons to forge their life and destiny!
Thank you so much for giving us such beautiful images!

You linguistically paint a lovely picture of a new sunrise.

Your consistent rhyme pattern gives the piece a nice symmetry and unity, tying it all together.

Your language use is simple and clear, which works well for this piece.

You maintain a lovely up beat, warm tone throughout.

Good work

This poem has a solid construction. I enjoyed the sensory imput it gave as I read it. I'm impressed at the flow of the words, and the thought connection. Your writing is very intentional, and I feel that your creativity will balance off your knowing how to structure the mechanics of poetry in future writings. You have some stong metaphors that set the tone of the poem . The imagery allows you to see the situation unfolds right before your eyes. Overall, this is a good work! I hope to read more poems and and/or stories written by you.

The flow of your poem is so smoothing and stunning. Every word creates a new visual image to the readers as though if they were there. The environment around us creates such beauty in our eyes and your astonishing work proves it. Thanks for the sharing through your words.
