The One That Slipped Slipped AwayA Story by Broken RealityI saw her sitting under the willow tree where the leaves split and the lake could be seen. I walked up to her, almost instinctively, wondering if she was okay. When I reached the tree, I hesitated. The view was so magnificent that its beauty made me stop and take in the sensory. I almost froze when I heard her whisper as if she were talking to herself. “Some people really don’t understand, do they?” My eyes opened wide when she looked up at me. I didn’t even think she knew I was there. “They don't understand what I go through. Everything comes with a cost. Does anyone understand that the things I get some with a tag? That they aren't given to me without something in return? I wish I didn't have these things. Does anyone understand that?" Then I noticed the way her eyes sparked under her glasses. She had been crying. “I do.” It was the only set of words I could form. She struck something that I didn’t think anyone could even see. It was like she could see straight through me, because she felt the same way as I did. Not many people understood that. She smiled as more tears fell from her eyes and I could tell she was just as robbed of words as I. That was the moment I fell in love with her. I promised her afterward that I would never let her go. So why did I let her go when she was silently screaming for help? She hid from everyone under those glasses. Even sometimes I was a culprit to her sadness because she expected me to see something, but I never noticed, because I never looked hard enough. Now it’s all my fault that she let go of me. © 2015 Broken RealityReviews
