Vietnam-Trickbag

Vietnam-Trickbag

A Poem by sako395

Jungle silence

   betrays the enemies presence

I know Victor Charles squats"waiting . . . waiting

   and he knows I know

Yet, down the trail I trip

   step . . . listen / look . . . step

Sweat drip

A game I must play

As armchair warriors rule the day

Robert McNamara admitted, quote, "We were wrong, terribly wrong about the Vietnam War."

Although this was short, I could almost smell the elephant grass, hear the sloshing of combat boots mired in rice patties, and sense the mortal dread of the soldiers on that trail as the sweat dripped...dripped.
Simply stunning!

We should remember those lessons, but am afraid many won't. I will, though, I most certainly will. A griping write.
