I Never Knew

I Never Knew

A Poem by MCSajini

12 years I lived a lie

When I asked, you always replied

Its brutal out there, you wouldn’t last

It’s better for you to stay, you must

But one day I broke the chains

Grabbed my heart by the reins

And rode out to parts unknown

Hoping it would be better than all I had known

2 years in the making my present time

There were struggles, do not deny it was always fine

But something happened along the way I never knew

That I always had it in me, to fight, to stand and so I grew

Came to know I could take on any direction

Even with little help or perception

Came to know I could stand in front of a crowd

And deliver much needed message, opening the shroud

I stopped running that day

I started to believe things would go my way

Yet I remembered you, your echo was softly there

“You won’t make it.. So don’t you dare!”

I proved you wrong, my dear brother

I could make it after all, I just needed to bother

Take the bull by its horns

Smell the roses, amidst the thorns

Proud I am, yet I will never forget, not for a long time

How you came close to robbing me of all that I could accomplish and make mine!

Sajini.. Excellent read! Our potential comes to play when we have no where to turn to. At times we need to be reckless in life to succeed.
Keep writing Sajini..
