Coincidence / Providence?A Story by saints8888musingsCoincidence or Providence? How many of both, is each of us doled out? If there be billions of us crawling on the planet,
there will be many with more of each in perception, and our sense of ‘self’
will believe a romantic interpretation, a ‘self value’ interpretation. I, having paid attention to little of the details
of living except coincidence and not knowing if others paid attention or cared
to relate such, no norm can be established. In my current state of desperation the only Coincidence
or Providence I seek is the sale of my ‘goods’. And yet it comes to fall that the Gods of Coincidence
& Providence grant me more in another life pursuit, a friend, who likes
what I like and sees life as I ‘Sea’ it, and actually likes me. Most of humans are alone in marriages in
gaggles of acquaintances, alone, still seeking, with the vaguest of understanding
of who they are and what they seek. Yesterday as I dragged and rolled my tender up
from the low tide ‘strand line’ a stranger asked if I wanted help, I said no,
thanked him and as I had been alternately dragging and picking up rocks to study
and wonder at what the little pieces of geologic history were saying and simultaneously
asking my Gods to show me a ‘Gold doubloon’ or ‘Piece of Eight’ , I jokingly added to the stranger that
I was seeking such. He smiled and said,
‘’you never know’’. I smiled back. True enough the Gods could indeed save me from
financial disaster with a small gesture. Instead the Gods ‘small gesture’ was a little Irish
leprechaun seeking me out with smiles and hugs. Coincidence, since for many years on the boat I
had a foggy longing that this little leprechaun would come fresh from Ireland to
my boat and actually like me.
When dreams come true like the sky at night lighting for a second from a
‘lightning bolt’’
You smile and appreciate and fear it will be no more than that moment of
illumination and you must accept dreams only last a second. © 2013 saints8888 |
