The Zoo Keeper

Works all day trying to maintain the zoo.

On the long hot, humid summer days,

On the cold, frigid winter nights.

His life depending on the animals.

The animals caged and confined.

Wanting to roam free.

Wanting to feel the cool crisp air.

Wanting to be wild.

They are trapped.

Behind  thick translucent glass,

Forced to live between cold  concrete walls.

The zoo keeper feeds and waters the animals.

Day by day,

Night by night.

Struggling to build a family of his own.

He is trapped.

Forced to live behind the cold, grey, metal gates of the zoo,

Dependent on the paycheck.

Wishing he could roam free.
