GHAZAL

GHAZAL

A Poem by SAGAR
"

ENGLISH GHAZAL - This is an ancient form attempted mostly in Urdu by Persian poets. This is my attempt in English wherein each line has a syllable count of 12.

"

How did I break decanter and glass in the tavern?

Some veiled betrayer tried to harass in the tavern

People abuse when I kindle her to show the  face

Lovers don’t have any favored class in the tavern

I’ve the free-will to drink as much as I want to now

Someone  labors to resolve impasse in the tavern

No one in this world can understand the true poet

My muse  can’t  enter without a pass in the tavern

Shockingly a  deluge  of her tears filled my goblet

Whose hidden lies  began to amass in the tavern?

She is silent but pleads with all as my  well wisher

Who is this enemy  showing  crass  in  the tavern?

The  Moon  pulls inside and the Sun alleviates me

Such addiction  becomes a  morass  in  the tavern

One caress reminds of my beloved from the Past

Introduce Sagar with the  new  lass  in  the tavern
