high priestess

high priestess

A Poem by sageflames

as I flip the tarot over to reveal my destiny

the high priestess winks at me

and in that very instant,

I was sucked into the realm of tarots

"my dear, ive waited centuries for you to return

see, my glory fades as yours has risen.

you are my daughter, the heir to my arcana

now it is your turn to rule the fates

      of the bittersweet universe.

carry the whispers of fate and symbol"

a voice so familiar

a face unrecognizable

a motherly tone

but I do not remember my mothers face

an orphan

that is I,

or is my life a lie

my thoughts are being read

she speaks again

"my dear, you wanted a taste of earth

      a rebirth

      I caste the spell

      to deliver you

      as a born again demi-human

to experience the pains mammals bare

      you craved experience

but everything comes with a price

for your memories of my world, of me,

      have temporarily faded

      fear not, they will return

as you begin to use your magia

      at the highest degree"

as she spoke

the words resonated

my mother

the gift ive longed for

alone for so long

now I have found

the tips of my fingers tingled

there was work now to be done

and once again

my mother was gone

but her voice remained in my head

to guide me

in my inevitable destiny

priestess
