uncovered birch seeds

uncovered birch seeds

A Poem by Matthew L. Arcelay

uncovered birch seeds never grow
for a time i thought i'd see the day when a tree stood strong
how wrong was i to believe in magic,
so now we bare the heat of day without it's shade
breathless licking empty bottle tops in search of condensation
only to quench our thirst with fallen tears
bottled up in jugs and sold at a fraction of their worth
not for profit organizations seeking to help pigeonholed souls
by feeding them breadcrumbs and blueprints

stacked together on assembly lines keep em busy

so the mind can't wander
or question why the sparrows are picking away
uncovered birch seeds
