a piece of me

a piece of me

A Poem by Matthew L. Arcelay

Walk with me talk with me
I’ll tell you a story
My story
Pieces of my heart
A long walk in the dark
My song
A few deconstructed melodies
Put back together with blue notes
Age 15 I was introduced to the hard concrete
Forced to find the rhythm in me
So I took up a beat and danced in the rain
Found my indigo spirit in the sky
Found hope in a pair of sparkling eyes
Found an offbeat tune and made it mine
Recorded love under marigold sunsets
then swallowed the sun so I could shine
Scoped out the city skyline and found eclectic sounds in the night
Pulled apart jammed sessions and made the music right
Against the grain I made my soul take flight
Built a castle in the stars made of key’s and bars and just one smile
That continues on
