a walk to clear my head

a walk to clear my head

A Poem by Matthew L. Arcelay

when i started it was a brisk day
my walk steady yet my heart still unsettled
i got lost in thoughts of sugar coated compromises
to many taking
like i was one of those fiends you see on the silver screen
I inhaled your essence into me
through the nose passed the lips on my skin ... i shivered with
every touch
you got in my head and i just tripped
those thoughts of you so surreal as if i was a painter in the abstract
i colored out time together as a masterpiece i would long to have created but never see
now my moments are accounted for on the sun streaked canvas of life
today I'll stop and paint the flowers when i find them
somewhere down the road
one long walk taken at my pace to find her.. him.. them.. us
at the beginning where we left off running in the grass
playing with a promise
today for tomorrow my canvas forever .. me
