the sunset in her eyes

the sunset in her eyes

A Poem by Matthew L. Arcelay

they called it modified sunshine
a glimmer of light
broken through panes of stained glass
reflecting crimson arrows on vagabond street corners
desolate in the daytime
only shadows walk over moments left unmentioned
stepping with each clock tick catching inner scents
hovering over them as cool moments in summertime
waiting for the tempo to change
seeking sanctuary in her arms
she is his smile
tradition is to watch the sunset in her eyes
drunk off passionate kisses
bound and tied to false beginnings
still found together
caught in between sunsets with no end
breathless ...
