so it happened

so it happened

A Poem by Matthew L. Arcelay

so it happened
my eyes opened to a whisper upon the soul
I placed on the precipice of time
to bare witness as his greedy hands reached for the fruit of life
discontent to be godlike .... worshiped among the stars
he would have the throne of paradise at the cost of his heart
a judgment passed by his own lips
to be great forever in illusion
painted pictures with sly wit and sheathed wisdom
the four corners a foregone conclusion
a little soul searching the depth of a slip of paper
his eyes cut on shards of life viewed sideways
three times blind trying to peer into fates eye
only to find the vision ever changing
