waiting for the world to bloom

waiting for the world to bloom

A Poem by Matthew L. Arcelay

starchild
i'm waiting on the world to bloom
let me follow scattered petals down your groove
on checkerboards dancing making zen moves
this is my world jumping over ends
skipping to the begin again
somewhere between never and infinity
waving at reflections in the glass menagerie
i feel the need to pass out falling blue roses
to all the players posing for pictures
against the backdrops of sand and tears choose one
cause i fear the crops this year won't yield as good
so long as the seeds we plant are long dead
before we sew them in the ground
even if promised i can't taste tomorrow till tomorrow passes
overzealous my hand reached for a fruit
only to find that tomorrow passed today
breathing deep i toss a handful of seeds in the air
and watch the bluebirds scatter them
to the four corners on the wind
now i wait for the world to bloom
