This Too Shall Pass

This Too Shall Pass

An ABCB pentameter poem for my Poetry class :) Enjoy!

"

The rain is falling quickly outside my window,

Each falling raindrop reminding me of you.

One drop for each thing I’ve come to know and love,

As well as a few drops I wish I never knew.

Like the rain, you started washing away too fast,

Cleansing my body of everything you stood for.

I still have not adapted to the empty space

In my bed where you used to rest, and gently snore.

It broke me when you looked at me with those eyes,

Big and brown, sad we had to depart from

This comfy bed that now is only mine;

Put simply, my dear, without you - I am numb.

I’m starting to remember how to feel again,

Learning from the days where our love was always spent.

I am starting to depend on myself for comfort and love,

This feeling of loneliness seemingly less significant.

Although some things are not clear, most have improved.

This constant rain and bitter has turned into overcast.

Sometimes being alone isn’t all that bad.

Like the weather, and our love, this sadness too shall pass.
