Clipped Coupons

Clipped Coupons

A Poem by CK Kimball
"

Not finished

"

She sits alone

Wondering where she would be if her life hadn’t passed her by,

Clipping coupons and using them at the dollar store.

Is this all life has in store?

Cluttered images framed her mind

What if’s and Why me’s

And a story of what she once thought life was meant to be.

Reflecting on how far she has come

And how far she had drifted from that dream.

Three kids and a house in the country and a lucrative career that she could be proud of.

Now she sits alone

Wondering where she would be if she had taken that road.

She sits alone and clips her coupons, trying to scrimp and save her way out of poverty.

While her dreams become someone else’s that she views from afar.
