The Wolf's Heart

The Wolf's Heart

A Poem by saeth

springtime emerges from the dark breaches of a cold winter

the wolf’s heart had vanished long ago

given to a another and taken so suddenly

his life lost in a forest of sacrifice

he presses onward through the isolation and apathy

paws treading on crackling branches

blinded by a brightness of others happiness

his eyes leapt out a single tear

a howl moves through the air and sneaks in to his ears

the sound of his love widened his strides

stirring a pounding in his chest

his breath quickens into a gasp

his heart wades in a clearing filled with bursting color

paws stepping as a feather floating

returned now is his lost piece

the wolf’s heart beat as a water rushing near

You have created a memorable character here and used beautiful imagery, but you might consider using another word rather than crept in verse 2 and taking the e off breathe in the next verse.
