Going Back

We seem to always come back to each other
Face to face
No matter how hard we try
We manage to end up back at square one

We gave each other our hearts
And we both handed them back
Without much thought
Or regret

No matter how far we went
No matter how angry we got
We seemed unable
To stop caring

I hurt you
I tried to place all the blame on you
It seemed the easiest way
To deal with the pain

But no matter how angry I got
No matter how may tears I shed
My mind always came back to you
I may no longer love you
But I only ever want good things for you

We yelled at each other
Stabbed each other with our words
We did everything we could
To make the other feel as much pain as possible

But no matter how much pain I felt
No matter how many nights I lay awake
Wondering if you meant
Everything you said

I hurt you
And I hurt you
In every way I could

You hurt me
And you hurt me bad
With every word you spoke

But through all of it
All I ever wanted
Was to go back
And be friends again

Because as much pain as we caused each other
At one point
You were my best friend
And I miss that.....

Couldn't think of an ending, my ex and me are always around each other, and I just want to go back to being friends, if that's even possible now

I think going back to better times is something we all crave every now and then. Yet in the end, we accept that forwards motion is all we're ever capable of. Nevertheless, it takes a strong soul to recognize hurting another to mask personal pains felt. An honest write, I quite enjoy.

I think its possible, If someone broke with you or you broke him it only mean you guys aren't the right partner for love, real love. but that doesn't mean you can't be friends! I mean, love and friendship is two things, he can't mix this up. I mean, breaking up don't mean not being friend, just not the right one to date. Thats two different things!

I think this poem is really nice, with a great flow and a very deep emotion and touching. Its a wonderful writing actually, we can feel the problem you are facing!

That was really nice. I think it's quite difficult going back to being friends with someone that you've had a special relationship with - unless you both are still comfortable with being that way with one another. But when you're apart, it hurts so much remembering the times that you were as one, sharing everything and anything. It was a lovely ending and moving. Great piece of reading
