Wind

A long journey
Up a big mountain
I sat against the window
The warm air burst through the open window

Chatter surrounded me
Giggles of the silly girls in the back
The boys laughing at the young girls
I sat perfectly silent

A few listened to music
Some read their books
No one seemed to mind the crowded bus
I know I didn't

I watched the the road
I stared at the hills
The trees
The birds that seemed to follow the bus

I blocked out all noise
And remained silent
I was allowing myself
To get lost within my mind

I was so in love with a boy
On that long trip
I knew what I knew
And wouldn't let anything change my mind

But in those few short days
Of wondering around
Hoping to get his love in return
All I found was an emptiness

And in only a few short days
I realized something
The love I had once given him
Didn't belong to the boy who I sat next too

It belonged to the boy
He once was
And would never be again

So on that long trip back 
My love for him
Slowly slipped away
Like the wind outside the window

It blew around my face for a moment
And then vanished...
