All I want for Christmas

All I want for Christmas

A Poem by sarah

All I want for Christmas
Is someone to hold me
Someone who cares

All I want for Christmas
Is to have someone who listens
To have someone who will hold my hand in the cold

All I want this Christmas
Is someone to love me
To kiss me under the lights

I wonder if I send a letter to Santa
He'll give me what I want
If I am really good this Christmas

Cause all I want for Christmas
Is someone who will love me in return

Aww, what a sweet thing to ask for Christmas! I think that a lot of people will be able to relate to this piece, and I can honestly say that I don't think you're the only person who will be asking for that this Christmas! :P I thought that the second half of the poem was somewhat weaker than the first half, but I liked the idea, and the sentiments were definitely there. Nice write,

It's a nice wish! A snuggle, a cuddle in the stocking, someone to light the coals of past lonely nights.

It would be a nice gift indeed. One to receive and to be given, for you can not receive love without reciprocation.

well the whole point of Christmas is giving not getting isn't it? Why do I say that??? NOT to criticize your poem-hardly! You start with the premise for a BRILLIANT piece, and then you only get PART of the bang for your buck! Well I believe in getting the FULL bang for my buck personally SO...what did YOU give, that would make Santa REALLY want to give you what you are asking for? YOu are asking the reader to feel compassion, sympathy, pity or some emotion for you, right?

You are contrasting what you ask with things in your reader's mind...like 'they gave everything and not they have nothing' or 'i have spent all this christmases alone by myself' or 'the person(s) i have DONT LISTEN' or 'i saw all the other girls being kissed under the lights and i felt sad or alone etc'. These are the kinds of things going through your readers minds anyway, so why not exploit it? use it to your advantage. The writers job is to employ enough technical expertise to create and emotional impact! I will discourse with you on this separately if you wish.
