Tears

Tears

A Poem by sarah

I have forgotten how to cry
It seems almost impossible now
Like that part of me no longer exists

I have shed a tear
A single tear
No more no less

My throat has gotten tight
And I have squeezed my eyes shut tightly
Hoping to feel some release

But no such feeling came
The pain still remand
And no ease was in sight

I wish I could just recall the feeling
To feel relief sweep over me
To have gentle tears glide down my cheek

To be able to feel myself give way to my sorrow
To be able to accept everything that has happened
To allow myself a moment of peace

I envy those who can weep
Jealousy consumes me when I see tears on their cheeks
I just want to cry

But I have have forgotten how...

This was inspired by my dear sister Angie :-) I have wanted to really cry for a long time. Not just to get choked up, and have one or two tears come but really cry. But I am afraid I simply can't anymore. Anyway let me know what you think!

This was a lovely explorative piece, I enjoyed reading this. The second stanza was really powerful due to its simpleness and honesty. Thanks for sharing.

sarah, this exactly how i felt the other night, its almost like you elaborated on the poem i wrote last night.you said everything i forgot to say or didn't know how! its so hard learning how to let your self go after training yourself to hold it in for such a long time. although i believe i am starting to be able to cry again, i still have this horrible feeling more than i would like to. and i'm so sorry that you have to go through that too. this is an excellent poem though! keep writing! your awesome!

Aww, I know exactly what you mean. After trying to be strong for too long, one simply gets disconnected from their emotions… The poem was great, and the flow was there. Good job!

The words are true. We need emotion and tears. You can get sick holding on to pain and hurt. No weakness in this poem. Just hope to be able to find the ability to feel some emotion. A very good poem. Thank you.
