The boy you once were

The innocent affection that lived between us

I remember how much we cared for each other

The thought that no matter what happened nothing could break this

The mind set of two young kids

 

I cared for you

You cared for me

But it wasn't enough to save us

It wasn't strong enough to be mended

 

Now I see you standing there across the room

You have changed so much

Your not the young boy you once were

You are a man

 

I will always have those sweet sweet memories

Those long nights we talked on the phone

The times you so badly wanted to take my hand in yours

The sweet affection that everyone could see

 

All that will always live in the back of my mind

Even though we didn't make it

I sometimes see the young boy you once were

I see him appear in your smile

And in your laughter 

 

He will live forever in my memory 

Even though you are no longer that person 

That is the boy I will always love 

And I look forward to seeing him in your smile

Its really sweet and sad, how sweet is when one grow up, people changes, a lot. It seems we no longer know that person, and its such a horrible feeling! However, I will say its sweet more than sad, its the care and remembrance in your words.
