The Man of the house

 

The man you looked up to and admired is gone 

the responsibalty now falls on your shoulders 

you stand tall and without fear 

 

In the time you are alone the tears streem down your face 

the pain in your chest becomes difficult to bare 

the joy you once felt is hard to trace 

 

When you walk in a room no one can tell what you are feeling 

you stand tall and with a smile on your face 

you answar any questions asked with the same interest as before 

 

You can't show weakness...

you must do him proud as a son 

you must keep the sprirts in your home high 

 

But even though you are now the man of the house you are still a kid 

a 16 year old boy who needs his dad 

a boy who demands to suffer in the quite of his room 

 

You will do him proud I know you will 

you already have 

and always will....

 

Author's Note

this is about my ex almost 3 months after we broke up his dad passed away, he was really close to his dad. So it was super hard on him, thank u for all the kind review's

A sad poem. It would be hard to lose a father so young. I lost my father at 40 years old and it still makes me sad when I think of him. You wrote a strong story. He sound like a good young man with strength. I like the ending to this outstanding poem. Thank you.
