Picking Up the PenA Poem by Sadiesmiles
Writers' block has been holding the reigns, as I struggled to get on my feet again.
My poems a reminder of what I was, what I could be again if I only tried, but time's not enough, and what I have is used up. But now, I fight back, scramble for those ropes, rip away the chains holding my heart. Let the ideas flow again, gain their respect again. It's all for the readers, the ones who like my work, their opinions, their advice, it's their shadows that lurk, lurk in the depths of my mind. For them I push on. For them I shed these bonds. Although I'm still rusty, I reach for that girl. that girl who Could do anything as long as she held a pen in her hand. That girl was me, I must get that back. My slump is over, for her and for them, I take back the reigns. I unlock my muse. I let my heart be filled. I sit down, and pick up the pen. © 2014 SadiesmilesAuthor's Note
