Imaginary Friend

Imaginary Friend

A Poem by Sadiesmiles
"

From the point of view of a forgotten imaginary friend.

"
What happened to us?
We used to have such fun,
But now you've moved on and I'm just another "forgotten one"
You cried on my sholder, you held my hand,
We lived in the world of Neverland.

I still watch you live,
With all your new friends,
The love I had for you will never end.
But piece by piece I watch my little girl slip away,
It's hard to keep the tears at bay.

In attempt to grow up so fast,
You forgot what mattered in the past.
The girl that I loved would have been ashamed,
Of the foul creature you became.
I wish to speak with you one more time,
To steal your heart as you once stole mine.

To play with you the games we loved,
To once more be a "chosen one"
Of all the invisible friends forgotten and scared,
I somehow thought you would always care.
Now I sit here empty and bare,
With all the others that thought the same,
The feelings we have to tame.

I wish to go back again to that time,
To visit the world of Neverland.

You're such a great poet!! The words flow so smoothly, and even though I'm totally not the person the poem is talking about (😉), it made me feel terrible, like I'd actually left behind a friend. This is an amazing poem Sadie!!! Two words, Literary Lulu!

Very deep and beautifully written, at first I thought it was a break up of lovers this poem really surprised me on an emotional level that I could relate to, very well done.

This is my favorite poem of yours!!! Super cool! You did a really good job on it and it is rhythmic as well which can be really hard to do!

This was amazing. I have to admit, as I was reading this, I couldn't help but see my imaginary friend who still lingers in my mind speaking these words. It just seemed to fit his character. And I'm sure it fits every character of everyone's forgotten best friends, even if they were not real. I loved it. Great job! :)

You're welcome. :)
The last two lines are how I feel when I think of my childhood. This was an overall good poem. Great job. I enjoyed this.

Thank you!
Great write, describing the process of the change in love very clearly, and aspiring to go back to previous state of good old days, admitting same time that world won't be there to happen again, enjoyed it, really liked the footing on reality when you speak of your perspectives and realistic approach to the changed love
