Stage Fright

Stage Fright

A Poem by Sadani Atapattu
"

A fear faced by most of the people is stage fright. This was my personal experience of facing stage fright.

"

Two weeks until

The speech I said I will

Deliver yet of myself

Now trapped in itself

Worrying the whole time

Neither could I dine

Amidst stammer I was lost

Shaking as if seen a ghost

Last time as I recall

A humiliation before all

As I walked toward

The crowd so awkward

My heart beyond with no control

A crewless vessel

Supple to the waves and wind

The fear that’s within

Overcoming endeavor

Compelling me to waver

Anxious and baffled I stray

Will I ever be able to say

Opening the door of mind

To the world midst tide

Yet no one else is to blame

Will this time be the same?

Trying my best still

Breaking fear wall

Holding me back

From revealing word

Of my heart to the world

Step by step as I go
