Dungeon of DependenceA Poem by Sadani AtapattuBeing dependent on others can sometimes put you in further trouble. This poem is about a person who had to depend on others and had to give up her life's freedom in return.Behind the
bars I wait To open
freedom gate Building up
a way of wealth The sole key
to independence Amidst
heeding advice Of those I
rely on till then Bearing what
I like or not Whilst being
used in harsh ways Here I
cannot deny As I depend
on them so much For food,
shelter, money and more
On the verge
of take off To open my
wings in my dreams Hoping
serene in latter life Yet if they
say to cease Even to do
what I averse Have no choice Since I owe
them so much Dependence
now a debt Life again a
