His only friend

His only friend

A Poem by Stephen

Day penetrates the darkness

Passing the recurrent hours of the void

Transient space, burning against the remains

Lying supine, the solemnity compresses his carcass

His expression, never to elapse

There lay his daughter, clinging to his body

Unaccompanied in the gloom of the night

As she wails and moans, a sense of comfort fills her heart

Her dad smiling with his jagged, grimy teeth

Eased from his clutch on life, his only friend

Leading him to the light
